Dolphin sticker in response to the dolphin slaughter that happens every year in Tiji, Japan. By my understanding (and please look it up yourself) these dolphins, who frequently seek out human companionship, are rounded up into pens and slaughtered over a horrifyingly long time in an inhumane way. There is tremendous infliction of mental and physical agony. Dolphins are mammals, they are not fish, and they are pretty darn smart and loving. Their flesh is toxic with heavy metals, yet it is my understanding the meat is fed to kids in the school lunch programs. Niiiiice. Ewww. Gag. We do not understand this at all. It does not compute. There doesn't seem to be any logic behind it other than a clinging to out-dated traditions. Come on, Japan, your reputation is suffering around the world! Dolphins are friends, not food!
We commend the courage of the surfers who physically try to stop the dolphin slaughter in Tiji, Japan, including Dave Rastovich's group, Surfers for Cetaceans, along with people representing the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Save the Waves, Minds in the Water, and The Whaleman Foundation. We also give big kudos to Hayden Panettiere, an actress for the TV show Heroes, for bringing media attention to this outrageous tragedy.
